Many of these companies require very little upfront investments. Products are plentiful, too, and you will certainly have your choice of which company to represent. But which one?

First, you will need to decide on a niche. Is it cosmetics or fashion? Home decor? Kids toys? Health products? Kitchen Supplies? Jewelry? Pet products? Whoa! So many companies to pick from.
The best way to make that decision is to focus on your likes. Do any of these niches overlap with your hobbies or special interests? Sticking with something you like will keep your interest and enjoying a niche make you a more enthusiastic sales person, Those are important factors at the beginning of any business start-up.
Selecting a Direct Sales Company Within the Niche
Next, you need to put on your business cap and decide on a company to represent. To make the right choice, you’ll have to assess company’s compensation plan, policies and procedures and whether or not the products are consumables (those are the money-making products customers reorder most often).
Interestingly, one reason many work from home moms choose is a company to sell for is because they like the products and want to buy more of them at the discount they will receive. That’s certainly one reason for choosing a direct sales company. But if it’s an income you want–and needs–to make, they there are a few other things you should consider.

Some would argue that being passionate about the company’s products is a requirement for success. But that’s not always the case. Let’s take a look at two direct sales scenarios to understand why passion might not be the best indicator of potential business success.
Direct Sales Business A has a product line that you adore. You love everything in their catalog and have already started amassing quite a collection. After reviewing their compensation plan you discover that earning more than 25% will be impossible. While there no opportunity for repeat sales, you might have customers coming back to look at new products. But… you just love every one of the products this company offers!
Direct Sales Business B has some charming and distinctive products. They’re not your thing, though, but you can think of some target markets that would love the product line. The good news is the company pays their consultants upwards of 50% commission, along with extra sales perks. The other good piece of news is these are products customers reorder frequently. They have a great track record of growth and have products many, many people want. But… you just don’t happen to see yourself filling your home with one of everything from the catalog.
Clearly, if it earnings you’re after then Business B has lots more going for it than Business A. But, if the reason for starting a home party business is to get your favorite goodies, Direct Sales Business A might be your best choice.
