How to Get More Blog Traffic

After a year of building Work In Mama, my focus has shifted to how to get more web traffic. So I’ve been researching and here’s what I’ve come up with…

Web traffic is important to businesses’ success. And we have to consider out blogs our businesses. Without traffic, there won’t be any visitors, customers or sales. All your work will be for nothing if you don’t have traffic.

So learning to drive traffic to your website an essential skill.

What I like about all of these tips is that they don’t cost a dime. They’re also techniques that are time-tested and proven. Yeah, old-school, but they work. So are you ready to take a look at these tips?

Tip #1 – Produce High-Quality Content That Solves a Problem

One of the best ways to get more traffic is to provide useful content. That’s information that can solve a pain point for your reader. Or satisfy a want. This technique is called content marketing. What makes this so effective is that the Internet is the way most people find out information to solve those pain points and wants. And they’re often ready to buy products and services if they can find the right information.

Providing them with high-quality content is like bait to lure them in –  it keeps them interested. The nice thing about this method is that it works whether you are promoting your own website, your clients’ site or sending traffic to affiliate offers.

Tip #2 – Learn to Use Search Engine Optimization

Be sure to optimize your website for search engines. And I’m not talking just about Google, Yahoo and Bing. Did you know Pinterest is an SEO cobbling monster, too?  Not understanding what those search engines are looking for is just bad business practice.

In order to increase your site’s findability on search engines, make sure to use SEO friendly keywords and phrases in your headlines and throughout the rest of the content. This ensures that your site will show up and rank well when people search for those keywords, and not only that, drive more traffic to your website.

The easiest–and cheapest–search engine tools are to use each of those sites’ own search boxes and let their autosuggest tools give you the answers you need. Then when you’re ready to move forward, you can start using the free Adsense Keyword Tool or use a paid service. I started using Jaaxy a while back and I love the easy interface and the tool letting me know when a keyword if the keyword is “poor,” “normal,” or “great.”

Tip #3 – Use Social Networks and Forums to Increase Traffic

I mentioned Pinterest above and it’s a biggie. While lots of folks think of it as social marketing, it really is a search engine. It’s also a terrific way to drive traffic to your website. And it works for just about all topics, not just food and crafts.

Many bloggers find Facebook an important source of traffic. it’s important to join in on the conversations, answer questions and post useful information that is closely related to your blog niches. Just be sure not to post blatant adverting (BTW, Facebook has an ad program for that).

There are also lots of other social networks that can be helpful for driving traffic to your blog. There are also targeted forums in your niche that can help drive traffic.  But you’ll have to figure out which ones are best for you and what gets you the best bang for your time.

Tip #4 – Jump in on the Video Marketing Bandwagon

Video marketing is becoming huge and getting bigger and more important by the minute. I know, the thought of learning how to make videos (and oh no, maybe I have to be on screen or narrate…. ACK! I’m trying to overcome that myself). But producing your own videos is getting easier than ever. If you have Microsoft Work PowerPoint 10 or above you already have everything you need to create a slideshow with narration.

You can make a short “ad” video to intices viewers over to your blog. Or created tutorials that help you become the expert in your niche. You can even produce a video about your product or service that you offer on your website and post that on YouTube. Just be sure to add your website link to that video, and this will make sure that people who view your video will also visit your website.

Wrapping Up How to Get More Web Traffic

It’s simple… by following even a couple of these tips, you’re going to make headway and drive a lot of traffic to any website you choose. That, in turn, will help boost credibility and increase profits.

Oh, and one more tip… be consistent. This is one of the areas that I’ve had trouble with and that I have to beat. But that’s a subject of another post. Until then…

Stay inspired,
