snag-first-writing-jobDo you ever feel like getting your first freelance writing job is nothing more than a Catch 22? You can’t get hired for a job unless you have experience. And you can’t get experience because no one will hire you. Yikes! What a soul-crushing loop for sure.

While there are lots of places to get paid to write online, many of them do require prior writing experience. But, I have an idea for you. One that will probably have you writing–for pay–within a week.

The place I’m talking about getting your writing mojo on with is BlogMutt. It’s a content site. But it’s unlike most other “mills.” It’s aimed as a writing service for small businesses who pay a monthly fee for blog posts. How many and how frequently is determined by their subscription level.

For writers, it can be a steady source of income. I’m not promising it’s a rolling-in-the-dough-money-maker but for a beginning writer, it’s a place for experience and some money.

Why I Love the Idea of Writing for BlogMutt

Assignments for BlogMutt are not claimed or guaranteed, but if you can impress clients, you will get paid to write.

First, this is not a scam. It will not costs you a penny. It’s legit. The real deal.

Signing up is easy, too. There’s no heavy grammar-intensive testing and no writing samples are necessary. In fact, after providing all the essential information to get started there’s only one question they are asking at this point. And that’s just to determine if you can follow directions.

Once you are accepted you can start looking for clients to write for. But here’s the difference between BlogMutt and other content sites: you will be writing on speculation rather than claiming articles.

Don’t let that scare you, however. If you study the clients well you can pretty much determine what they are looking for and what they accept. The site says their rejection rates is only about 10%. The BlogMutt dashboard is easy to navigate and you’ll find all the information you need right up front.

Most posts are short, at about 250 to 300 words. There’s also not a heavy SEO demand for these short articles.

Let’s Talk Writing and Money

It is low, as writer pay can sometimes be. But it’s a start. Those 250-word posts will bring you $8 each. But they are only 250-words!

BlogMutt has a reputation for paying promptly and with PayPal on a weekly basis once a post is accepted by the client.

This is a site where quantity is going to pay the bills and fortunately the work is plentiful. There are a variety of clients in different industries covering lots of topics. The clients also seem to be very prompt with reviews and/or notes. So there’s no long waits for editing and acceptance.

Since there are no assignments there are no deadlines which can be good and bad. As a work at home mom, I love the ideas of grabbing a few minutes here and there it might be the perfect opportunity. of short articles to write in-between all the other things that I have going on. And no deadlines looming over my head make it all the better.

All writers with BlogMutt start out at a Level 1 and are only able to work on the short articles. With more writing and acceptance writers can work their way up the ranks and the longer articles and more pay.

How to Succeed with this Writing Service

Writing more is the best way to earn more with this company and one of those ways is to write on topics that you are familiar with. If you have to do have a research this is not the gig to do it with. Fortunately, there are lots of clients in a lot of different businesses so finding something that you mesh with is pretty easy.

As with any type of writing, the more you do, the faster you become. That will definitely be a help with BlogMutt. Your first article might take you on hour, or more, to write. But with more posts under your belt, you might be writing two, three or even more short pieces in an hour.

But here’s the thing, you’re never going to succeed if you don’t get a chance to start. And BlogMutt makes that possible. There are no hoops to jump through to get accepted. No demanding editors to satisfy. Your work goes directly to the clients. And they either like it or they don’t. And even if they don’t you may find you can re-work a piece for another client. That’s a win-win in my view.

If you’re interested in BlogMutt, head over to their site and sign up.
