Hi, Folks, welcome to this new feature on Work In Mama. We’re all so busy with families and trying to make a living from home that news seems to come and go. Especially the news that could be important to us. So, I’ve decided that every Friday I’m going to gather what I’ve found interesting for the week and share it with you.

How Does the Average American Spend a Tax Refund?

WAHM Tax Return Savings InventsThis was the week tax returns were due. Hopefully, you have one coming back. That’s a good thing, but if you listens to the ads, you know someone wants your to spend that money. But according to an article on Motley Fool, that’s not the case.

In fact, the number of people who will be either saving or investing their refund or spending it on things they need, like food, or to keep the gas or electricity on, is at the highest rate since Bankrate first did this study in 2010. Over one-third (34%) of Americans getting a refund plan to save it or invest it, while 29% plan to put it toward necessities, and 27% will use their tax windfall to pay down debt.

I hope you’re one of the 34% who plans to save or invest, especially if you plan to make the work from home switch this year. Once you start on the path with an irregular income, have money in the plan is a good, good thing.

50 Great Job for Retirees

These are all such great ideas, but here’s the thing: I don’t think they are only for retirees. A lot of these ideas work well for us in the work from home crowd. Take a look if you need some inspiration. And many can be done as side hustles if you’re looking to earn extra money while still working the day job. Give it a look for some inspiration.

Amazon Target Jacked Up to $1,000

amazon fba selling amazon affiliate programBarrons is predicting Amazon’s stock price will hit $1,000 per share (oh my!). Now, of course, that’s probably not going to help many of us who are to make ends met. But here where it is good news, especially if you’re an online seller looking to a money as an Amazon FBA merchant or if you’re using the Amazon affiliate program to monetize a website. (BTW, I wrote an article this week on The Best Money Making Niches for Amazon Affiliates. Make sure to check it out).

Here’s the thing that you can take to the bank with this story. The giant online retailer is not going anywhere. In fact, they are looking to get bigger and strong. And that can only be benefit for those of us trying to carve out our work from home careers.

Why Your Small Business Should Hire a Virtual Assistant

I found this article at Small Business Trends and while it’s geared towards business owners, I think every virtual assistant or want to be should read. And then incorporate those points in their own marketing material to new clients.

pinterest-virtual-assistantSpeaking of virtual assistant jobs, have you been to the indeed.com paged on through my resource links? I refined the search for just remote virtual assistant pages and came up with lots of opportunities. Take a look here. Also, don’t miss my latest article “Can You Make Money as a Pinterest Virtual Assistant?” Don’t miss this one if you’re a Pinterest Junkie like me and would like to make money, too.

And if you haven’t started your virtual assistant career, why not? If I were you, I jump on Gina Horkey’s free virtual assistant course to get more information about this growing career. It’s free (yes, FREE) and you’ll learn so much. Check it out right here to see for yourself.

Do take some time for a little research weekend, but also spend some quality time with your family. Remember, that’s one reasons reason why we’re all in search of our perfect work from home careers.

Hope to see you back again soon,
